2 Month Doctor Visit
Today we went for Ava's 2 month doctor visit. She weighed 11 pounds 11 ounces and was 23 1/4 inches long. Her weight is in the 75% and her height is in the 90%. The doctor said that basically (basicwy) means she is a tall skinny baby. Again, I'm not real sure where that comes from! Maybe grandmama and Aunt Jo. She got her shots this morning, too. She got two in one leg and one in the other, and she got the rotovirus vaccine which is just a liquid they squirt in her mouth. She screamed and cried until we got her dressed and put her pacifier in. After that, she was fine. While we were there, the doctor recommended that I go ahead and get my flu shot, so I did. I've never gotten one before that I know of, but he said that anyone in the household with a baby should get one, so I did, and Micah will get his too. So if you want to hold Ava, get a flu shot!

Oh No!
Oh no! Andrea, Karl, and Kaden are coming to my house!
They're here!
They left...but they brought me a cool toy that I like to look at and smile.
As you can see, Andrea, Karl, and Kaden came to our house for a short visit. We enjoyed it very much. Karl went to school with Micah and talked to his classes about his job at John Deere, so Micah had a good day Friday. We were glad they came to stay with us and we are looking forward to returning the favor! It may be a while, though, because its getting colder in Iowa, and we don't like the cold. Maybe we can sacrifice.

Happenings
Lots of things have been going on lately, we've been very busy! Friday we went to Garland and got to see Grandmama and Papa, as well as Aunt Jo, Page, and her three girls. Saturday we went to the A&M game. Although it wasn't a great game, we got to sit down pretty much the whole time and eat Freebird's burritos while watching, so it wasn't all that bad. Ava stayed at home with my mom. We are very appreciative of how willing she is to come and watch Ava! Monday I started "running". I put running in quotes, because I'm not sure if you can actually call what I'm doing running. I jog, pretty slowly, for 60 seconds then walk for 90 seconds. I was worried I wouldn't be able to do even that, but I was and so I was glad. I already want to quit, though, but I'm not going to. I'll keep it up and hope it gets a little easier each time!

Exercise and Immunity
Well, apparently my immunity system is shot, because I just keep getting sick! I have a cold or allergies or something now, but I'm on antibiotics already from my last sickness so hopefully it won't get too bad. I've been looking on the internet trying to find ways to boost my immunity, and along with many disgusting sounding smoothies, exercise is one of the big boosters. I've been doing lots of core exercises for after pregnancy to help get my back and abdominal muscles strengthened up some. I did not realize how weak they get after having a baby! Before and even during pregnancy I could do tons of crunches-all kinds-no problem. The first time I tried to do one after having Ava, I was shaking all over and I could barely do one! Anyways, I digress. One of my "stay at home" projects was to start running and to be able to run a 5K, which is about 3 miles. Again, I was not prepared for the fact that I wouldn't be able to start doing that as soon as I got home from the hospital. Well, I went to the doctor on Monday, and she has cleared me for exercise, so I decided I should start. I found a "Couch Potato to 5K" running plan and next week, when I know I will be feeling much better, I plan on starting it in full force. I have tried this week, but just walking down our driveway (which is really long) has worn me out. My goal is to be able to run 3 miles by Thanksgiving, and my sister-in-law Amber (who runs half marathons) has agreed to run-very very very slowly- in the Turkey Trot in Dallas with me Thanksgiving Day. We will see what happens. Hopefully this will help boost my immunity and get me feeling better and more energized!! And if you happen to be in the Dallas area on Thanksgiving Day and want to run with us, just let me know! Next year I hope to run it in Paris and possibly be able to keep up with my friend Jeri-if you know her, you know that will be an accomplishment!

From Paris to Abilene
While Andy and Lyneil are enjoying themselves in Paris, France, Micah and I traveled to Paris, Texas a few weekends ago. It was a fun trip and we got to visit with lots of family and friends. I didn't have time to see everyone I wanted to, though, so we will have to make another trip to see the friends we haven't yet seen. On Friday night we ate dinner with Micah's parents and the Fry Grandparents. Saturday I went to a little 'stangs football game and saw many of my friends from Chisum, who I miss very much. It was so nice to just talk with them! At work my teaching partners (Cindy and Crystal) and I would always get lunch from somewhere on Wednesdays. Now every Wednesday at lunch I keep thinking I should go get lunch! I've brought Micah lunch and eaten with him at school, but it's just not the same. Saturday night we ate dinner with all the Zants which was great fun, as always. Pam and Michael took care of Ava Saturday night during the night so Micah and I could sleep. I thought I would wake up at Ava's usual feeding times, but I slept all through the night, which was great! Sunday morning we went to church in Paris and showed Ava off to everyone, then we left and went to Lone Oak for a short visit with my parents.
Last weekend we went to Abilene so Micah could buy some goats for kids at school. The trip started off great. I was able to visit Lane and Page and all their girls (3 under the age of 3...Page is amazing-Lane does pretty good, too). Emma Claire is a cute and happy baby. She is 3 weeks younger than Ava, and smaller. Seeing her and Ava together made me realize how much Ava has grown. Saturday afternoon I got sick...again. I don't think I have ever had as many health problems as I have had these past six weeks! Because I was sick, Micah and I got up Sunday morning and headed home. We stopped at a Care Now place in Ft. Worth and saw a Dr. so I could get some medicine. I'm feeling much better now, but Sunday was a long day! Because I was sick, I didn't even think to get pictures from this weekend, but Page and her crew are coming to Garland Friday so I will go and get some then! Here are some pictures Pam took from our weekend in Paris.

One Month Old
Yes, I know, I'm a little behind. Today Ava is one month, one week, and one day old, and I'm just now posting about her one month birthday. We've been busy. Anyways, here are some pictures of her from September 4, her one month birthday. I am going to attempt to catch up on the blog for the past couple of weeks this weekend. We will see how that goes!

Ava in Aggieland
We made our first overnight trip with Ava this weekend to College Station. We would like to thank my parents very much for getting us season tickets to the Aggie football games this year. The seats were great, the Aggies weren't. Hopefully they will improve! We enjoyed our trip still, got to see some friends and eat good food. We are looking forward to our next trip down there! We stayed with our friend Julie and Micah went to the game with his old roommate Daniel and Jake and Amber. I stayed at Julie's with Ava and was going to go visit some friends, but we had not one, but two major diaper blowouts in the carseat and had to wash it twice, so I just hung out at Julie's, which was actually pretty nice. Jake and Amber brought us donuts Sunday morning so they could see Ava before going to Abilene to see Emma Claire. Sunday afternoon we went to campus to take some pictures, but it was way too hot so we left. We will try again later. We had a good time, Ava was great and slept wonderfully in her pack-n-play crib, so now we know we can travel with her! We are going to try going to Paris this weekend, a little longer trip. We will see how it goes!
